Hatty Days Are Here Again - Part Two

Yesterday was Kentucky Fried Derby Day in the USA! Forget about the Horse Race (as many do), and cast your eyes on the Most Important Part of the event: Hats! And more hats!

The Kentucky Derby is the #1 Hat Day in America wherein part of the Privileged Masses attempt to copy and/or out-do their Brit counterparts in a non-spoken competition of who can wear the most outrageous and/or gorgeous hat possible.

To your left you'll notice a visual of what some might consider to be the Ghost Of Past Derby Hats making its rounds at Churchill Downs with the help of a human body. Not so, although my first impression of the picture did indeed evoke a ghost-like image until I realized the picture was human as no ghost at the Kentucky Derby would ever return in a simple trench coat wearing a Big Hat covered in plastic.

No way. It's just a spectator who chose to cloak and protect her precious hat from the rain during its appearance earlier in the day. However, when the rains stopped raining, others got their Hat's On, Look At Me! moments. For fun I am posting a variety of visuals from the galleries of hats from yesterday's Southern Exposure. I've added my own captions which may or may not be witty...but they'll be pithy.

Don't move! Continue to remain still. The Octopus will soon die from lack of hydration. Breathe.
Def a Yankee Spy! Psst! We can see you!
What exactly was in that Mint Julip?
The hat wondered if it would ever stop looking like someone's arse so people would stop sticking their heads in it.
