Pfffft #1,000

Today begins the New & Possibly Unimproved Congress. Despite a few more Dem's in The House and Senate, things are still too tight for easy or civilized negotiations. Do we have to go through this crap again? You know, the endless political machinations of a Divided Congress? I'm soooo very bored with it all, yet what else is there to write about that exudes such Messy Human Drama as the antics of grown men and women in Washington DC who are supposed to be our Leaders? Yes, we have a ringside seat to Immaturity, Greed & Power-Mongering when we find ourselves swept into the manufactured crisis' of our now new National Pastime – Leave Everything To The Last Minute and end up – always – with a half-baked bill or law or something. Just as we'll do the Fiscal Cliff Dance one more time in a few months when the Next Debt Ceiling fracas is upon us.

Boring, I say, Boring! Yet, many of us watch the circus regardless of the eye-rolling. Why? In some cases, it's because whatever the New Law Or New Bill may be could effect our lives for good or ill – or those we love, so we watch and often wait for the inevitable finale, only to be told that whatever The Hell was that we just went through was simply a Dress Rehearsal for Another 11th Hour Decision Hell that we have been told by everyone is a Big Deal and if it passes or doesn't pass, some of us may be drowning in champagne in a different way than I did on Xmas Day, or that we'll soon lose our Savings/Pension/Social Security/Job/Health Insurance – you know, everything that keeps us going and alive.

Most Americans know by now how corrupt and dysfunctional our current government is and have tuned-out. But, when one does lose touch with what decisions are being made on our behalf, we lose the opportunity to have influence on the issue. Or the pretense of having a voice. Sometimes our Lawmakers actually pay attention to the words of constituents via email and social media to gage the temperature of whether or not they should do something about whatever it might be that we want done. So, it's not always in vain to send an email. Petitions cause people to feel as if they have done something productive; however, petitions are often ignored.

And so people like me, with too much time on their hands, steep ourselves in the intrigues and dramas which surround our governing class, while, concurrently, bored beyond belief with what we are witnessing or, at times, quite irate. So, what's my point here? If I'm so bored why continue to go on and on about politics? Or the dalliances of celebrities as well?

Because I'm bored, that's why.

Time to finally cleanup my last short story and submit it somewhere? Go for a walk? Find a job? Get a facial? Wash the %$#& floor for the 1 million'th time? Smile?

Until I figure things out, have a grand day/afternoon/evening/middle-of-the-night!
