Who Deserves A Flog Today

The people who are lining-up in the clich̩'d "droves" to support the anti-gay stance of a chicken fast food chain I had never heard of until a few weeks ago are in the Flogging Whip's cross-knots today. Why? Well, apparently those chicken lovin' peeps who hate The Gays would rather help the fast food chains' coffers grow back to where they had been before all hell broke loose when the COO of Chick-Fil-A spit out his real feelings on Gay Marriage and all of that other anti-gay stuff most Anti-Gays love to shout around the world whenever a microphone is nearby, than take the same stance with their struggling, out of work neighbors who could use their help. With Chick-Fil-A stocks dropping 30% since Dan Cathay, the COO, opened his fetid mouth of OUCH, a backlash against the banning and boycotting of the stores has some customer's a-comin' to the rescue to buy as many bags of Chicken-Fil-A as they can. They are lining-up all over America today to ingest more fried calories via the chicken sandwiches and chicken anything-goes that is sold at the outlets to show their solidarity with Homophobia wherein an executive of a major brand can express his personal feelings on an issue and not lose business over it, nor be boycotted from cities and little towns where once there had been room for another fast-food gem to make sure our country continues its love affair with trans fats which clog arteries and cause heart attacks and strokes and enormously obese people. My feelings are tamer on both ends. If one discovers that the owners of a brand/place one uses are politically, culturally, at the opposite end of what one believes in, why not just stop going there if you are offended? Why make it such a big deal? Because, as anti-Chicken Fil-A protesters claim, "If you hate us so much we'll hate you back and start boycotting your stores!" And, "We'll come out in equal clich̩'d droves to kiss each other right in front of all you Gay-Hatin' wing nuts just to make you sick Рor something." Please, please, Gays, do you really need to shove it in their faces? They barely have enough room left in there for more hot chicks and roosters after opening one of them-there neatly crumpled white and red logo-inked bags. Aren't there better ways to make a point? The "Other Side" is definitely making their point. They would rather stand for hours in all kinds of weather to buy (un)healthy food to support intolerance than spend the same time and money helping neighbors who have lost jobs, homes, family to illness. That's the sad part. It's all over Facebook today. Pictures of one of the stores in Texas (surprise!) laden with a huge crowd of "Rah-Rah-Rah the Chick-Fills-My-A-Hole mighty fine, thank you very much, you Queers." Oh dear, it's come to this over a Food Chain? Hey there, everyone, can't we all just get along?

Oh no. I did it. I brought Rodney King into this rant. Well, why not? I'm still waiting for the truth to come out on the details surrounding his extremely odd death. One thing I can guarantee, he wasn't having Fried Chicken ala Fil-A that day. How do I know this? I don't. It just sounds good in writing.

  1. Now here's something to REALLY think about dear Shauna. No more than six weeks ago, President Obama had the EXACT SAME opinion of gay marriage as Mr. Cathy did. He said it right on national television, he believed that a marriage was between a man and a woman. Plus, one after the other, black preachers and clergymen have stood at their pulpits and said the same thing. But nobody is protesting, or showing up at the White House or these churches, and shoving their tongues down their same sex partner's throats. It's OK to say it if you're a democrat, or black, but God forbid a white heterosexual conservative expresses the same views. John

  3. John - I support anti-hate no matter where it comes from. Not certain why this situation took off, tho'.

Anon - Appreciate the comment although I'm not sure what you "said" - hah!

  4. Yet when the left spews their vulgar, hateful and vile remarks, I don't recall seeing many if any rebukes aimed at them in your blog. John

  5. John, I don't recall reading vile and hateful remarks on the level of the GOP/Tea Party. C'mon. I'm a Dem/Liberal - what do you expect?

  6. Of course you don't recall reading vile and hateful remarks, because where you get your news sources, doesn't report them. It would make their "Emperor" and his associates look bad. I'll get back to you with a list, as soon as I can take a break from the recording studio. John
