Land of the Fleece and Home of the Cray's

Welcome to the Shouldn't Be Happening first Monday of the Sequester in America! Have you noticed how I have avoided complaining, explaining, berating, equating, or negating anything concerning the Big Newz since its inception? I may have linked to one or two articles about it along the way; however, I don't recall because the entire Bleeping Mess has wiped-out most of my grey cells that deal with rational thought/thinking. I'd much rather post videos of people being funny, or trying to be so, than walk through the gnarly path of Washington politics as often as I have done in the past.

Not only is the latest Brewed-Up-Non-Hah-Hah frustrating to most sane people on both sides of the aisle, the "Sequester" (aka Who Will Blink First again) is just another day in Washington's Hood. Again and again we read articles, watch pundits on the Watching People Yell At Each Other Visual Device, that do nothing to change the continuing cry-baby antics of the Radical Right while they continue to dismantle whatever stability our country once believed we had.

There is no doubt (in many good minds) over how damaging to the country the Tea Party's insufferable intransigence is, and how weak and hog-tied House Squeaker John Boehner has become by the 50 or so Wingnuts in the House who refuse to budge on anything beyond complaining about Obama. However, regardless of my obvious and very overt dislike of what is going down in The House, it isn't ALL THE GOP's FAULT.

Sure, a large population in the U.S. blames Bush – still – for our economic woes, while others point wagging fingers at Obama because he created an expensive Stimulus Package to DO SOMETHING to help. How about we stop blaming Bush (despite the fact that he "started it"), and stay on point with what's happening NOW and who is truly to "blame" for the lack of movement in our most important government business, such as saving, as well as creating, jobs. The culprit(s)? BOTH parties. How can I write such a thing? Because when Career Politicians care only about their jobs and, ultimately, not the country to which they pledged their allegiance, NOTHING will get done. *

I don't believe we need a gun-toting hoard of Revolutionaries to invade the Capitol while frothing at the mouth against whatever they want to change, but wouldn't it be wise for a National Review of how we conduct political business? Term Limits for everyone in Congress would be a great way to begin the cleansing of a system that has become so corrupt that even the best-intentioned people in office eventually become caught up in the Hallucinogenic Mindset of their less well-intentioned colleagues.

How about it? Anyone up for the task of pounding this option into Law? I will write about it. So will others. We should all use whatever Soapbox suits us to reach consensus.

Until this serious, radical change is implemented someday, the U.S. will remain strangled between Extremists of EVERY colour and political persuasion. It simply makes sense, as we have seen way too many times of late. I sincerely doubt that the Founding Fathers ever imagined that people voted into Washington's Decision-Making Process would make it an almost permanent gig, as well as a Lifetime Money Drain on the nation when they retire. **

Hey, it's okay to have a Retirement Fund, but should it come from taxpayer money years and years after that person no longer works there? Shouldn't their continuing pay be from their own independent of government investments they made while working – just like the "average" American? And, as so many have been saying and writing as professionals and commenters on various political articles, one would hope that if the government is in such bad shape financially, those we have voted into office to save us from precisely what is happening now with this absurd standstill, should be the FIRST to take a pay cut.

I'm sure Rand Paul, Eric Cantor, Nancy Pelosi, et al, would be just fine without an extra $50,000 or so a year compared to a widow/widower receiving even less than that per year, and who needs Meals On Wheels, for example, just to remain independent and not starve to death.

But then, you already know that, right?
