Rush To Slut-Mess

Writing about Rush Limbaugh's latest Hoof In Mouth fiasco is, in a way, too easy a subject and target to Flog. However, wonder of wonders, he went too far this time and something magical has happened: people are actually doing something about it. Advertisers are leaving; petitions have been flying around the Interwebs, and Sandra Fluke, the focus of his callous remarks, just might sue for slander. 

If you haven't followed what is going down in Mr. Viagra's petty world, trust me and others that Flogging the vulgar mouthpiece is justified. Yes, he "apologized" for his tasteless words, but it was so tepid I was reminded that when his OxyContin abuse was discovered, so were many many little pills that, shall we politely say, indicated that he could be a bit soft in the nether regions of his unfortunate physique. 

Aww, poor baby. Need some help down there? Do you mean you can't just take an aspirin and squeeze it between your flabby knees? 

Yep. This time Rush did it up almost as big as his ego. And, the pontificating-bag-of-smoke-and-mirrors, mingled with the salty air of Palm Beach, was more than a tad concerned when an unusual package landed on his doorstep. Read This For Details

My first jaded thought about the package was that it must have been his latest shipment of Viagra. But, the entire "event" turned out to be a simple fluke, as it were. Nevertheless, one can never be too cautious following a brew-hah-hah that has upset, infuriated, more than half of the country. 

I'm not going to bash this guy ad nauseam here. Those who like him will continue to like and/or listen to his radio program, and others who loathe everything he supposedly "stands for" will continue to ignore him until he lands another one of his way-below-the-belt remarks...apparently the only place he can focus on these days.

Controversy is a ratings-maker in the media. Limbaugh has made an enormously profitable career out of spewing intolerance and mockery toward the disabled, non-whites, "Liberals" and any other group he pretends to abhor. I write "pretend" because, if he were truly a man of his word, he would not have fallen all over himself to meet Elton John when they were staying at the same hotel in Hawaii a while ago, nor did Rushie have a problem inviting Elton to perform at his wedding in 2010. Did he decide that Sir Elton's homosexuality wouldn't rub off on him? It's okay to hang with a gay man if he's famous but not a regular "Gay"? Hypocrisy anyone?

And that question brings me back to the Viagra connection and why I find it so very disgusting that of all people to trash a woman who simply wanted to speak to an all-male committee on the subject of contraception, Rush Limbaugh had to take the story/issue and run with it in the most offensive manner.

After all, if one isn't using their People-Maker to make people, at least according to the Religious Right And Wrongs, he shouldn't be messing around with it...unless he and his wife intend to have children, correct? If not, then why does he need the medication?

Is it any of my business what he does with his Little Friend? No. Not at all. Nor is it Rush Limbaugh's or any man's business what a woman who is not one's wife or partner does with her reproductive system. Although being a Big Mouth who brings huge ratings and money to his radio station's owners is part of his "business" as a talk show host, it is certainly not his business to accuse anyone of being a "prostitute" or "slut" - unless, of course, they're knocking on his hotel room door, right on time.
